Ben Klock at Public Works

San Francisco has turned me into such an electro brat. I’ve been hitting the scene semi hard since I moved here. So far I’ve been to 1015 Folsom, Public Works, the End Up, The Mighty, Temple and some underground parties. All are post worthy and I will have to post on them in the future. For now, the post is about pure techno beats at Public Works.

I have to admit that I didn’t do my research at all before heading out but was in for a treat when I arrived. Ben Klock, a techno DJ from Berlin was on the tables and the club was filled with invigorating energy. It’s been a while since I have been to a techno show.. it’s usually house, trance or dubstep these days.. but this show sure has opened me back up to it.

Ben opened up with “Subzero” and the dance floor erupted. The sound system at Public Works contributed to the greatness as well.

“OK featuring Elif Bicer” is all about the drum and vocals. “Ain’t no happiness… ain’t no sadness”. So simple, yet so powerful.

I’m also loving the Ben Klock remix of Martyn Ft. Spaceape’s “Is This Insanity”. It’s so Euro!

Kavsrave – RnB, Dub Excellence

Kavsrave (or Jamie Kavanagh, if you prefer) is out of London. Me… I’m a big fan. These hits just make me want to find a dance floor and destroy it. Looks like I might have to head to the UK just to hear these drops. Kavsrave puts the ‘Rhythm’ and ‘Bass’ into RnB, the precise electronic synths into electro, and crushes it together in a clean – yet diirty mash of audio-orgasmic perfection. Please. Turn the bass up.

I’ll start with the first Kavrave track I stumbled upon. This vocal sample and synth literally pull you into the track, sucking you up, and dropping you right onto the first hit. A remix of this track already has had some traction here on Electro and Tonic, check out SparkleFeet’s post on Female Vocals.

Here’s some of the newer grooves. Those synthed strings help give this track a haunting and hypnotic feel.

This next track, well. You’ll see. Again, the vocal samples give so much depth and emotion to the track. Also included is a sample of the (Anger) mix, which is raw and striking. Love them both.

Morgan Page – Progressive House

A new year, and also quite possibly a rekindled love for a new genre for me. I’ve been a little dub-centric recently, so to shift gears; I want to feature a fellow previous Burlington, Vermonter. We all know the name Morgan Page, and I’ve been spending the day discovering and rediscovering some progressive house from this stand out artist. This guy is proof that crazy cool people come out of Burlington, VT. ;-) Flush with quality remixes and originals, let’s touch base on a few that have been really hitting home with me today.

Here is the original mix of a track off of Morgan’s most recent release, Believe. The track stands powerfully on it’s own, but I would also recommend tracking down the many quality remixes.

Now for some truly top tier remixes of Jason Mraz, Tegan & Sara, as well as Nadia Ali. Have a listen.

For good measure, I thought I’d throw in a Deadmau5 remix of a Morgan Page classic original as well.

Bag Raiders

Bag Raiders

Hope everyone danced their way hard into the new year! beatFreque and I sure did, and are still sore from it. Yes, we realize we have been a little MIA and have been doing more dancing then writing..but that just means more content to come! Anyways, I have been wanting to post on Bag Raiders for quite some time. I used to be obsessed with the track Shooting Stars which came out a while ago and is now featured on Bag Raiders’ long awaited debut album which came out in October.

Shooting Stars is magically happy and pleasant.. which is why I fell in love with it to begin with. The other songs on the album are electro-pop house-ish and fun to sing along to as well.

The track ‘Sunlight’ is blowing up right now. I just have to share the music video with you because it is so weird. A love affair with a monkey? Too funny.

‘Castles in the Air’ is full of catchy electro beats, so this is the song I am leaving you with.

Ferry Corsten Trance Music

Ferry Corsten, aka System F, produces music that makes you do the smile dance. You know, the smile dance, when you are enjoying the music so much you realize you have a permanent smile on your face and your body is just moving on its own without regard to anyone or anything around you.

I saw Ferry Corsten in Prague at the venue Sasazu over a year ago. It was pure trance fun and I sure do miss living in a place where the clubs don’t actually have to shut down and you can dance until 7am.

Now you all now I’m a sucker for female vocals, so naturally my all time favorite track by Ferry is Black Velvet featuring Julia Messenger. It’s kind of an old-y but I think it deserves some lovin’. The track is so sensual and invigorating. “Before the lights….Come blind my skin… I wanna feel… This love I’m in… guilty pleasure… My desire… I’ll hold you to… My line of fire….”

Ferry Corsten – Black velvet feat. Julia Messenger

Ferry Corsten’s most recent work includes the track Minack. Minack, which is actually by Armin Van Buuren, features Ferry Corsten. The track is pure trance. The kind of trance that just lets you open your mind and feel the rhythm.

Ferry Corsten released the album “Champions” this summer which features the winning remixes from the “FC System F” remix competition in which DJs were offered the opportunity to produce new versions of the original System F tracks. Here are 2 tracks from the album.

Perhaps you remember the track “Pocket Damage” from 2002 that was released under Ferry Corsten’s alias “Eon”? Well there are now some great new remixes of that track.

Here is one remix done by Rafaël Frost, who got picked as producer of the year 2010 by Ferry Corsten.

The Hats

The Hats – Electro House.. Dance Time!

What a great way to start my day. Woke up to Press Play EP‘ in my inbox today. I love it when I start my day dancing.. could be one of those days where I don’t stop. We’ve been featuring a lot of dubstep lately, so I’m pretty pumped that some quality electro house fell into our lap.

The ‘Press Play EP‘ contains 3 originals, “Press Play”, “So?ho” and “Subtle” and 2 remixes from Jackiroqs and the (un)known Special Guest. The ‘Press Play EP’ is released today on THaF Records via Beatport and all other major online retailers.

Personally, “Press Play” is my favorite out of the three:

Dubstep Porn

This post was inspired by beatFreque’s post on Pornstep.. so I will not take all of the blame for the naughtiness :p. I know some of you may have been hoping for videos, sorry to disappoint you. Use your imagination if you would like, but this post is strictly auditory. These songs take the dirtiness of dubstep to a whole new level.

We are going to have to start off with Skream’s “Kinky” which is full of moans and wobbles for your delight. This one is definitely a sexystep classic.

Next up is Bar 9′s “Midnight” which starts off so innocent with a piano playing then drops dirty and filthy. “Midnight” is pure dichotomy.

TecBloc‘s Porn Star is a new dirt-nasty tune

Dextron, a producer from the Netherlands, is rather underground, but with a track like “Suck My Wobble” he really shouldn’t be.

In Kromestar‘s “Kalawanji”, the moans are subtle and the wobbles and womps heavy

Listener beware, Torqux‘s Midriff is X-rated. 18+ only! This is the dirtiest track in all senses, the dub and the umm lyrics.. Here’s a clip..
